RAHMAN JAMAAL IS A CABLE MOVIE MEGA STAR:
Don’t forget that Hip Hop Congress national board member Rahman Jamaal is currently being featured on TMC (and has been featured on Showtime, Starz and Black Starz) in his movie “The Beat.” For those who have not seen the film, Rahman rips many mics and also delivers a powerful acting performance. If you are too broke to purchase cable, borrow a friends Blockbuster card or hit up Netflix, where it is also available.

WHERE THE LADIES AT?:
what’s up, y’all? Sarah coming back at you. I am working with some other people in the congress to put together a page on the website for a listing of contact info for women involved in hip hop. this would be a tool for females and males to network and become more familiar with female artists and organizers. It would also provide promoters, event-throwers, organizations, clubs, etc. a place to find female artists so they can add a little more estrogen to their line-ups. if you know of females who are artists, organizers/activists/educators, promoters, journalists, radio djs, etc., you can send me their info cerahshocker@hotmail.com. I will contact them before I add them to the list to get their okay and complete info. peace!

PARENTS OF A NEW SCHOOL:
Hip Hop Congress is proud to announce the roll-out of a new program that will educate parents and adults about the culture and elements of Hip Hop in an effort to dispel common myths, rumors and misunderstandings between parents and their children about the music and culture that is so prevalent in our society. The program will begin in the Bay Area very shortly. For more information on this groundbreaking project, please contact Elgrie Hurd, III at doctorhurd@yahoo.com.

USC:
What up?! Seven weeks into the semester and five emails later…brought to you by the good folks at Hip-Hop Congress here at the University of Southern California. I know everyone is steadily preparing for midterms. If not, you’re already in the thick of things. This week we got a triple threat for everyone. First, we’ll be watching “The Freshest Kids: A History of the B-Boy,” a comprehensive breaking video with Over two hours of hardcore breaking, giving you an all-access pass to the underground world of B-Boys spanning the last 25+ years. Secondly, we’ll be peeping the latest LP by Bay area hip-hop group Blackalicious entitled “The Craft.” And as if it couldn’t get any better. We’ll also be peeping the latest release by one of the most dynamic lyricists of the west coast. That’s right, Ras Kass – with his latest offering, “Institutionalized.” We’ll also be checking out an article that appeared on DaveyD.com entitled “Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney Crafting Legislation To Open Government Files On Tupac Shakur.” Till the next update. Holla back. Respect. HHC.
