SHAMAKO IS FASCINATING:
Davey D (daveyd.com) began a series of installments highlighting people who fascinated him this year. #10 was Kanye West. #9 was David Banner for his aid to Katrina Victims. #8 was our own President, emcee extraordinaire Shamako Noble.
This is a must read article that shines some light on the work Shamako does for the many organizations he works with. Send Shamako some congratulations at Shamako@hiphopcongress.com.

RON IS PROFILED:
The Young Americans Project (TYAP) is 4 guys in an RV touring the country looking to highlight the diverse voices they encounter over the three month trip. They have a website and will be publishing a book when the trip is over. You can follow their blogs, pictures, and short movies as they travel from Maine to St. Louis to California to New Orleans.
While in St. Louis, Ben visited Vashon High School where Ron Gubitz teaches American Literature. He followed Ron for a day, seeing him at work, home and…a bar. Check out the profile here: http://www.theyoungamericansproject.com/profile5.html
If you have questions email Ron at ron@hiphopcongress.com or TYAP at tyap@hiphopcongress.com.

JOHN LENNON REMEMBERED AND INTERPRETED:
To commemorate the anniversary of John Lennon’s death on Thursday Dec 8th, and Saturday the 10th being Human Rights Day, Amnesty International+ Yoko Ono + a bunch of great artists are taking the opportunity to raise Human Rights awareness, through the use of John Lennon’s catalog.
Previously, Yoko donated all entire solo John Lennon catalogue to Amnesty International, and this year she has teamed up with Amnesty to invite artists to record their favorite Lennon songs. It culminates with a full length cd in April ’06, but this Saturday 4 tracks will be released digitally.
Black Eyed Peas’ rousing version of “Power to the People,” The Cure’s interpretation of “Love”, Snow Patrol’s recording of “Isolation,” and “Grow Old With Me” performed by The Postal Service – (the postal service track is just beautiful).
All four exclusive singles will be available as online downloads via http://www.amnesty.org/noise
Peace and Love,
