CAL STATE FULLERTON:
Hello hello everyone! Greetings from Fullerton!
At last week’s meeting we had a sort of heated discussed about KRS-ONE and Adisa’s conflict at Stanford and got some pretty good responses from members about hip hop. We briefly discussed Three 6 Mafia at the Academy Awards and the current status of our chapter. We came up with more fundraising ideas and started ideas for the next event. This past Tuesday, the planning has started for Fullerton’s main jam that is tentatively scheduled for Wedneday and Thursday May 3rd and 4th. This next week is Spring Break for us, so for those of you that will be on Spring Break.. Have a GREAT one! Our next meeting will be on April 4th! See yall then. PEACE.

UC IRVINE:
Is the illest place to be right now. no not really, but maybe on Wednesday nights when Hip Hop Congress has been throwing it down! KRS-ONE came and lectured last Wednesday, the 22nd and really made it clear that we aint jokin when it comes to Hip Hop education. Maximum capacity of the lecture hall was 355 people and we had all seats filled and people sitting on the stairs full of attention for what KRS had to say. It was the only packed lecture hall that I attended that day! There was nothing but respect and love flowing throughout that night and so many people stayed until the very, very end to get a snapshot and autograph with legendary KRS-ONE.
Irvine HHC sported our new shirts that simply say “Hip Hop Congress Loves You” and were all so proud to hear KRS speak our name. You all can hear him shout out Congress on our myspace: http://www.myspace.com/hiphopcongressuci, on Youtube.com or from www.hiphopcongress.com
The OC Weekly also featured a little thing on KRS and mentioned our event: http://www.ocweekly.com/index.php?option=com_content2&task=view&id=24580&Itemid=47 of course it only said “UCI hip-hop conference”, but still…no one else has brought Hip Hop to UCI like this…and true…Knowledge rules Supreme!
Another interesting tid-bit: The National Museum of American History plans to dedicate a major collection devoted to Hip-Hop music, which will include a broad sampling of memorabilia ranging from Afrika Bambaataa to Grandmaster Flash to Ice-T. check out the article here.
Anyway…hope everyone is enjoying life as much as I am…can’t wait to see you all at National.
one love,
anh
