Weekly Update o6.14.o6

NATIONAL CONFERENCE:
Join us in Boulder for our 5th Annual Hip Hop Congress National Conference. There will be workshops, performances, networking opportunities, and many good times. Hit www.hiphopcongress.com for more information. We look forward to seeing you there. If you have questions, email Shamako@hiphopcongress.com

CHICAGO CHAPTER:
Chicago will be repping hard at the Conference this year with about a dozen people heading out to Boulder from this area. Everyone is excited to attend! We have also been hard at work finalizing details with the National Hip Hop Political Convention. Everyone will probably get an update on that when we see you.

Until then, PEACE!

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY:
We ended things the right way: our 1st Annual 5 on 5 Bboy/Bgirl Competition entitled “Hit the Breaks, Bring the Steeze”!! We had approx. 400 people show up with 6 crews competing on a Sunday Afternoon. We had performances by local beatbox duo Brothas Grimm and Life the Guardian. Even with technical difficulties, the performances were dope! Best day for HipHopCongress and although we received funding from the school, this event was completely planned by us: Hip Hop Congress Seattle U Chapter. I must say it’s nice being the first chapter in the state of Washington because you can do whatever you want!! It was truly amazing watching history in the making: this is the first time Seattle University has ever had a breakdancing competition on campus, Best believe that!! Thanks for letting us finally become a chapter, and we hope to do some amazing things next year!

WILLAMETTE:
The Willamette Chapter of the Hip Hop Congress is going to have to be absent at the conference! This is not by choice, but is what has happened. I am working 60 hours a week, and my boys are either in Germany (World Cup), or Greece (spoiled Willamette kids), or broke kickin it in Seattle (Thats me and Tristan) Damn lost some money on this trip….

To let you know what we have been up to, go to http://influx.uoregon.edu/2006/ and check out the article on pg. 40. Thats how we do! Casper the Friendly White Honkey in effect!

Much love to the whole HHC crew, and I know I will see y’all next year! If not before! We may not be reppin in Boulder, but we are always doing the Congress justice in the Northwest!

Peace,
Casper The Friendly White Honkey

Peace and Love,

UC IRVINE:
ahhhhh…the rush is finally over, and it’s time to take a deep breath because this year has been an amazing year for Hip Hop Congress at UCI no doubt!!!!! ORG of the YEAR baby! yeeeeeeahhh!

We ended things off strong with a crazy big show featuring Supernatural and Ghostface Killah which was fun…but if it was a solo HHC project, things would have been much different…but that’s what happens when you work with other organizations…and now we just know what there is to know. Can’t wait to show you all footage at conference.

But the time has come to say goodbye to some of our beloved HHC All-Stars cause graduation is right around the corner. Gene, Jeremy, Kenny, Manny (and anyone else I may have missed)….you fellas are the shit. Keep the Hip Hop Alive when you hit the world….cuz that’s what y’all do best. Luv ya mean it! and the rest of youse….be ready for KillaCALI to roll deep to Colorado….cannot wait to see your silly faces.

PEACE
