Mississippi Update

The Mississippi Artists and Producers Coalition led by ‘Sip vet Kamikaze just entered into a partnership with an organization called the Collective. The Collective is comprised of visual artists, sculptors, and experimental artists and will work with M.A.P. in the ongoing goal of promoting the arts in Mississippi. Kamikaze was named to the Collective Steering committe as was M.A.P. member/MC Skip Coon. You can check out more on the collective at jxncollective.org and MAP at myspace.com/mapcoalition.

MAP will be resuming its monthly meetings this MAY. This on the heels of co-sponsoring a town-hall meeting with the Mississippi ACLU and the Malcolm X Grassroots movement called “KNOW YOUR RIGHTS” which focused on police brutality and racial profiling. Incidentally, A MAP member (A. Wells of the Truth Click) from Hattiesburg, MS was beaten by local police after an event in the Hattiesburg area. He has filed a report with Hattiesburg police and with the state ACLU. He’s retained a lawyer and will be going to the press soon with his story. this S–T never ends!

Also..Kamikaze is now co-hosting a radio talk show on WJNT-1180am. (The Kim Wade Show). The show focuses on news topics of the day. Not your regular gig for a rapper but…. and not to stop there, Kamikaze further infiltrates the system…He was just named Project manager for the City of Jackson’s Farish Street Re-Development project. A gig offered to him directly form the mayor of Jackson himself because of Kaze’s tireless efforts in the community.
