So 2008 is already a huge year for Hip Hop Congress. We are expanding at a rate we have never seen before.
We are meeting new people daily. It really is incredible to watch things change. We used to have to have to yell
and scream to get the attention of those around us, now we are getting hit up for help, for new chapters, for new artists.
This is telling us a lot. First it is telling us that its time to get things even more on point (hence the new newsletter look)
Also look for some website evolution. Lastly it really tells us that people need help. Young people want to change the world.
Young people are NOT satisfied with how their world is shaping. And we are humbled, encouraged, and inspired that
so many young people have chosen Hip Hop Congress as one vehicle of change. We know Hip Hop is not everyone’s answer
but we do know that HIP HOP is a large part of the solution and we look forward to all the partnerships, ideas, new
members that will bring change. – Peace “Berk”
This is my first try at an html based newsletter. Feel free to send suggestions, as well as information
for the newsletter and website to

CSUF Hip Hop Congress February Update
Peace yall. This is Daniel Samarin (aka The Samurai), the new CSUF HHC Chair since last semester.
Hideki Fukusumi (aka Deks) is the new vice chair, and Luis Mora is finance chair.
We were really focused on rebuilding after losing a few members off our board last semester,
which explains the lack of updates from our chapter. This semester, however, CSUF HHC is in full effect!
A short sampling of the stuff we got lined up includes a production workshop, DJ workshop, MC workshop
(tentative), open forum / dialogue between HHC and the African American clubs
(tentatively titled Who Owns Hip Hop?), a videogame-themed Bboy tournament (more on this later),
and of course the third installment of our spring semester show Get Up to Get Down.
Detailed updates about the ladder two events will come to our mailing list subscribers.
If you’d like to subscribe to it, shoot us an email to csufhiphopcongress@gmail.com. Anyway, that’s all for now.

Sacramento Community Chapter
What’s really good? We’ve been meeting up planning out
the after-school program, which is called The
Foundation. We are shooting for a summer release for
The Foundation out here at one of the Sacramento high
schools. There’s still a lot of work that is going to
be needed to get our after-school program off the
ground but we have some dedicated folks that are going
to get this thing off the ground and make it a sucess.
We also are going to be working at the Living Legends
show that is going down on Feb. 9th at the Colonial
out here in Sac-town as a chapter. Wyzdom is going to
be doing a painting and we’re going to sell raffle
tickets at the concert to hopefully fundraise for the HHC.
