HHC@UCLA Magazine and CD compilation

Rhymes, wild-style graffiti, dusty vinyl records, dance, and stunning visual history – All
components of the first hip hop lifestyle magazine released by the Hip Hop congress at
UCLA as a pre-cursor to Hip Hop Appreciation Month.

This January, Hip Hop Congress @ UCLA will release a
magazine that aims to prove there is more to hip-hop than its
simplistic mainstream approach and that when the culture of
hip hop is given the opportunity to flourish it has the power
and creativity to inspire social action from the ground up. The
greater goal of this magazine is to bring together the diverse
talent from across UCLA’s campus, as well as the greater LA
community. Through different arts such as dance, music,
video, graffiti, photography, and poetry contributors will tell
their unsung stories and challenge those who label the
contemporary generation as apathetic. The magazine itself
will be a work of art – a tangible accretion of progressive
pieces and a physical representation of the profound and
diverse spectrum of hip hop.
