HHC Dope Emporium Artist Program Summary:
Purpose of the Program: We believe that artists can organize, support and lead other artists. Our goal is to support artists, cultural producers and leaders in the cultural community while helping to facilitate the process of artists networking, collaborating and supporting each other. We believe the impact the direction of the music industry, public policy, and education. We will help develop the next generation of cultural leadership, and thus directly contribute to the direction of education, culture and arts.
Objectives:
- To provide quality performance/showcase opportunities throughout the country and eventually the planet.
- To act as a hub of independently produced art and media at the grassroots level and to utilize technology as means by which to promote it.
- To act as a source of consulting, information, strategy and support to over 100 artists on an annual basis.
- To create and sustain new markets with new music, video, and literature.
- To connect artists and cultural leaders to practical movement issues like economic justice, anti-violence work, public housing, electoral organizing and other campaigns. To use our network to provide definitive and quality cultural support services to our chapters, community organizations and partners.
- To build a strong community of artists, educators and cultural leaders and support them throughout their career.
Artist Levels:

Annual Fee: $300

- Performances: At least 50 performances, headlining 10 or more medium to large shows. Probably already booked by HHC chapters.
- Years professional: At least 5
- How much you charge for show: $1000 and up
- What your draw and promotional capabilities are: Capable of drawing between 250-300 based on the name in 5 or more locations.
- Experienced Artist/1st Opener
Annual Fee: $150

Qualification Criteria:

- Product: At least 1 albums, multiple guest appearances, press kit
- Performances: At least 25 performances, opening for a major act on 5 or more occasions. Possibly performing locally or for 1 or 2 chapters
- Years professional: At least 3
- How much you charge for show: $100-$500
- Draw and Promotional Capabilities: 50-150 locally and regionally
- Myspace music page or other music networking site
- Aspiring Artist /2nd Opener
Annual Fee: $75

Intake Process:
Step 1: Artist Inquires on the Website-Inquiry goes to COO/On-line Management. Inquiry forwarded to Artist Intake Coordinator.
Step 2: Artist intake coordinator responds to inquiry and sends them to artist intake form.
Step 3: Artist intake is completed. At the beginning of the week, all inquiries are assigned to tiers.
Step 4: Artist Intake Coordinator contacts them to explain their tier assignment and the basis of the program. Explains fee and asks if artist is interested in officially singing up. Goes over expectations, major events and check in schedule.
Step 5: Artist Intake Coordinator forward information to National Outreach Coordinator and Regional Coordinator to make follow up appointment. Regional Coordinator sets appointment with artist.
Step 6: Regional Coordinator goes over regional activities with the artist, sets up annual HHC plan and artist plan. Plan is sent to artist intake coordinator and National outreach Director.
Step 7: Artist begins journey and does a quarterly online check-in and bi-annual meeting with the Regional Director. Records are kept of these meetings.
