Cinco de Mayo is here and this coming weekend CopWatch will monitor police interaction with “cruisers” along Federal Blvd.. Thousands of “cruisers” decorate their cars with the Mexican colors and drive down Federal Blvd. in an unofficial and spontaneous celebration of the holiday. Last year police cracked down on cruisers.
Denver CopWatch will again patrol Federal during peak cruising hours and monitor police activity. We need your help to do it. Volunteers are needed Friday, May 2 , from 7PM until Midnight, Saturday, May 3, from 6PM until Midnight and Sunday, May 4, from 6PM until 11PM. We may also want to set up a shift for the evening of Monday, May 5, depending on how many volunteers we have available.
You do not have to volunteer for an entire evening, just give us what time you have. We will do a quick training for folks who have not received CopWatch or Legal Observer training. New volunteers will be paired with experienced observers.
Although CopWatch has some cameras, if you have a video or still camera, please bring it. Volunteers should also bring extra clothing, it can get cool later in the evening.
