CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT:
This year has been REALLY exciting with chapter development.
WAYNE STATE: The Wayne State chapter is up and running! This is our first chapter in Michigan, holding down the motor city.
UCLA: The hip hop club at UCLA has recently affiliated with HHC. This is our SIXTH chapter in the So Cal region. So Cal is heating up.
GEORGIA STATE: We have a very aggressive campaign to get into Atlanta. Our first step is Georgia State, where students have begun setting the groundwork for a chapter. We already have office space.
CHICAGO: We are kicking ass in Chicago. With the formation of a Chicago council, we have created a strategy to engage the community and the local schools and organize the entire hip hop community in this important and influential area.
INDIANAPOLIS: Our good friend Nick started a community chapter in Indianapolis. Already a dozen members strong! Great job!
COLORADO: Our National Conference in Boulder led to the development of TWO new chapters in Colorado, one in Denver and one in Greeley, Colorado. This is on top of our chapter in Boulder and our chapter at Colorado State. Be on the look out for an entire state organized hip hop scene!
HOUSTON: Our work at the NHHPC (National Hip Hop Political Convention) connected us with an organization that will affiliate with HHC, making our second chapter in Texas in Houston. We’re really looking forward to what comes out of there. Texas State cats, get at jordan@hiphopcongress.com if you want to link with the Houston group.
PHILLY: Our former Grinnell College chapterhead is now in Philly spreading the HHC love with high schools he is working with. Look for our first Philly chapter sprouting up soon.
SAN JOSE STATE:
Wut up ya’ll..
We just finished having a banging Thanksgiving Dinner as well as a super productive revamping of our internal structure. Also, we have been asked to perform for our campus’ cross-cultural center annual talent show so Today’s News (a group composed off 100% chapter members) will be on stage on December 4th in SJSU’s Ballroom. Lastly our last open mic of the year will be the Thursday after Thanksgiving… Well let ya’ll know how that goes.

WILLAMETTE:
What up HHC headz!
This is Gibbs up here in soggy Oregon to let you know how we been doin. This will be my last post as i am handing over the reins to the young buck Austin who will be taking over the chapter because I graduate in 3 weeks.
This year has been crazy so far. We had our Awareness show with Grayskul and some local crews including HHC’s Hot in Pursuit. It was sick. Berk was right, the dudes at Grayskul keep it real, nicest MC’s in the game. Check em out.
Dec. 1st we are hosting Break ‘n Beats a Bboy exposition and DJ freestyle session. We couldn’t do a battle because of how we got the money. We hired Defcom 5 to roll out and perform their routines with another crew (TBD) and then teach students some moves also. On the One’s and Two’s we have DJ Pharoh, DJ Undergrad, and DJ Shumpei. They will be spinnin and it should be sick.
If y’all haven’t heard about the “Black and Brown Unity Tour” check it out. Its a panel lecture featuring Dead Prez and others talking about a range of topics. We are trying to book them (2nd week of February) to talk about “Hip Hop Matters, Activism, Organizing and Social Justice”, and “White Racism and Privilege in Hip Hop”. Lots of work left on that, but the University President wants to see it happen.
And y’all Conscious Overdose 2007 April 20th featuring The Blue Scholars! Now we just need the money to pay the Scholars.
And SJSU chapter if you reading this, I may be coming your way if I score the job SJS.
Stay tuned y’all!
Peace,
A - casper999@gmail.com
CAL STATE FULLERTON:
CSUF HHC just had our end of the semester event: Revival of the Fittest on Thursday, November 16th. A big thanks to everyone who supported, including our performers Brawdcast and Gio and our DJs rank(e), Soulfunky, and special guest Analog.
Next week when we come back from break will be our end of the year banquet! It’s gonna be an interesting one. Plus, we will have our last installment of All Your Bass are Belong to Us on Thursday, November 30th in the Titan Quad from 12noon - 1pm. Let’s end the semester right!
Have a good Turkey Day, y’all.
Peace.

SACRAMENTO STATE AND COMMUNITY:
We’re gathering some ideas and thinking of doing a mixtape to start off our new Sacramento Chapter. If anyone from any of the chapters has some music that they would like to get exposed please contact Wes Kuruhara at mailto:raekwondahchef@yahoo.com or send them to me at 100 Bicentennial Circle #13, Sacramento, CA 95826 with your name, the name of your song titles, and your contact info. Like i said last week we met up and formed this new chapter which is basically 2 chapters in 1 by connecting the hip-hop heads in the community with people from the university out here. Hope all tha chapters are doin good. one. wes
UNIVERSOTY OF COLORADO at DENVER:
Everything is going great, I literally just got finished getting approved for fund from the school. We are in the process of promoting our fist even, “ELEMENTS.” Hopefully this event will lead to more successful ones. - Tom
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK:
So instead of an article I’m including one of my new favorite websites musicovery.com. Many of you know about Pandora.com that uses a base artists to build a streaming radio of similar artists. Musicovery uses your mood as a base and builds from that. The skin is pretty intense and its certainly not perfect but its a very entertaining music site.
Also in lieu of the upcoming break there wont’ be an update next week.
Peace
Berk
