INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN CHICAGO!!!!:
The Fourth Annual International Hip Hop Congress Conference will be in Chicago this year from June 23rd to the 26th. We are really excited to see everyone there this year as we continue to build as an organization. The conference is a great time to get new ideas, contribute to incredible cultural events, as well as chart the future for the Hip Hop Congress.
This year is extremely important as we will be revisiting our Mission Statement.
Book your flights soon. I booked mine for the wrong weekend so make sure you get there on Thursday June 23rd and leave on Sunday June 26th or later.
Point of Interest: We will be creating a mission statement and having our national meeting on Friday so if you are a chapter board member or connected to a chapter and want to be involved in this exciting/integral process, please make sure to be in by Thursday evening.

TEXAS STATE NAMED CAMPUS ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR!
Hey what’s up this past weekend the Hip Hop Congress received four awards for our activities at Texas State. One of the four was Over All Org of the Year! Big up to the Congress for that. Our Prez also got an award for Man of the Year. Big ups to Ernst Bernard chapter head. We just had our last meeting and elected new officers for next year. We’re already getting ready for next year’s events.
USC:
What up from Hip Hop Congress! What’s the deal everybody?! Can you believe it? The semester is nearly over people. The final days are upon us. Unfortunately, this will be the last email of the semester for ‘SC. And, on top of that, there will be no meeting this week for HHC. But don’t worry, there are a grip of shows coming up in the next two weeks for anyone happening to be in the LA area, of which HHC here at ‘SC will be repping. And we’ve also hit up our members with an article we thought they may enjoy, entitled “Somethings to Ponder: When is Old School Too Old to Play” an article by DaveyD.
SAN JOSE STATE:
The next couple of weeks we’ll be working on several things planned to help us wrap up the semester. On Wednesday, May 4th we will have two events. First we’ll have a Poetry Jam in the Student Union’s Pacifica room. That evening we will also host a night at the Clandestine Crew’s Wednesdays at Johnny V’s.
We are also using this night as a release party for our “Expressions for Relief Mix-Tape” which features some San Jose State’s Hip Hop Congress members as well as some artists from our on and off-campus community. Of our off-campus artists we feature Hip Hop Congress’s own Shamako Noble. We are also working on having our Chapter Shirts ready for that evening.
The next day, May 5th, we will have an election to usher in the next generation of officers for our chapter.
CAL STATE FULLERTON:
Werd up Congress folk. CSU Fullerton has been hustling to get all of our preparations set for our first ever Jam which will be going down next wed and thurs. For those of you in the L.A. area, come support your fellow chapter and get down w/ your brethren and sistren in a two day funk fueled fun fest.
May 4: 12-1pm (featuring Mark Luv and Soul Rock Affiliates)
May 5: 9pm-midnight (Open mic/floor featuring Djs Frank[E], Wally Spark and Soul Funky. Plus special guests Longevity)
HHC RADIO:
Sound Clash of the tight ends: Realthaman vs. DJ Wally Sparx (President of Gesundheit’s fan club) Two men enter, only one can win.

BELOIT:
There was a battle and we got all the top college crews in the area Chicago Tribe, Motion Disorderz, Brickheads, Junkwartz, Groundhogs, Midwest Monsters, MadSense and more along with some great popping, mcing and art talent.
We definitely got to expose our community to a culture they had never encountered before and we’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback from the event.

INDIANA:
What up congress- IU chapter has been laying low this past week. Blueprint was in town this past weekend, but that’s about all. I know I’ve been studying like crazy, I presume others have been too. This Sunday we’re having a big end of the year BBQ at Aaron’s house.
I think we’re all ready to go home and call it a year.
Peace-

Anyone else gonna be in New Orleans for Jazz Fest this weekend? Hit me, maybe we can grab a show or 12…
Also, would someone PLEASE invent a hip hop spell checker? It would save me about 20 minutes a week.
Peace and Love,
