IU CHAPTER - 6th ANNUAL HIP HOP AWARENESS FESTIVAL:
Sadat X, Saul Williams, $1000 B-boy Battle, $500 MC Battle! Etc.
April 10-18

The goal of the 6th ANNUAL HIP HOP AWARENESS FESTIVAL is to show the true spirit of hip hop culture, a culture that was born out of the worst living conditions in American history as a means of expression to substitute violence. For six years, our festival has been growing and bringing together more people in a peaceful, enlightening, energetic, educational and non-violent manner.

The Awareness Festival is the premier annual hip hop event in Indiana. The Festival has two primary objectives. First, to offer the community quality, hip hop programming. Second, to put IU and the surrounding Bloomington community on the map as a leader in the preservation and advancement of hip hop culture. In previous years attendance has spanned coast to coast, from San Jose, CA to Atlanta, GA.

All but one event comprising the festival are FREE and open to ALL AGES so that the highest quantity of people can enjoy and benefit from them.

WE WANT CREWS TO ROLL DOWN FROM OTHER CHAPTERS! If you are from another chapter (Midwest or not) give us a heads up so we can help you get here! If you are on the national board, we have some funds allocated for you to come down, so don’t sleep on this!

CHICAGO COMMUNITY CHAPTER:
The Chicago Community Chapter of Hip Hop Congress is working hard on the cultural/elemental aspect of the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention in Chicago from July 19th - 23rd. Hip Hop Congress events will be titled Down By Law and will include workshops, discussions, performances, an outdoor jam session, and a huge battle. The battle is actually the biggest aspect and is actually an all elemental crew battle. There will be a pretty big cash prize and crews have to rep all 5 elements over three days (if they make it to the finals, in tournament style). We encourage all HHC members to try to make it out to Chicago for this and help spread the word, both for heads interested in a Hip Hop Political Convention and even those who just want to get down on the battle tip. Preflyer and more info coming soon. For more info on this chapter, please email chicago@hiphopcongress.com

This event is available only to UCI students but we’ll try to capture the event so that the rest of you can have a peek yeah? YEEEEEAH!!!!
